Meet the Team

Kathy Wilks (she/her) was born and raised in Colorado. Growing up and attending school in Englewood, she then went on to Colorado State University where she received her Bachelor’s and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She has been a veterinarian in the south and west suburbs of Denver since her graduation. The drive to help animals and their parents, as well as the desire to retain a hometown doctor feel, lead Dr. Wilks to open Vista Paws Mobile Veterinary practice that will continue to serve the same suburbs she has been a part of for more than 25 years. Dr. Wilks believes in creating a partnership with her clients to provide the best possible care for her patients.

Dr. Wilks strives to bring complete care to her patients from puppy or kitten wiggles to the difficult last days, focusing on preventative health including dental care, behavior, and the human-animal bond. She is a Fear Free Certified veterinarian and has seen firsthand how bringing care to our pet’s homes greatly decreases the stress and anxiety many pets and their guardians know all too well with traditional vet office visits.

When not helping patients, she is enjoying our beautiful state with her husband, daughter, and two active Australian Shepherds, Cooper and Ollie. Dr. WIlks is an active Australian Shepherds foster, helping this often misunderstood breed find their furever homes.

Dr. Wilks cannot wait to welcome you and your pet(s) into the Vista Paws Family!

Cara moved to Colorado from Florida in 1996 and has enjoyed this state ever since. She has loved animals, especially dogs, since she can remember. Her first job was at an animal hospital working in the boarding area at 15 years old, and this is where her passion for Veterinary Medicine was sparked and continues today. Cara has worked in every department of a hospital from the front desk, the exam room, surgery, and patient care. She enjoys the medical side of Veterinary Medicine, as she loves helping patients feel better and seeing her patients improve, as well as behavioral aspects of the human-animal bond. Cara is also Fear Free trained.

Cara brings compassion and integrity to every interaction she has with her patients and clients. She and her partner are excited to be welcoming their second child in January of 2023. Cara and her active family enjoy camping, four-wheeling, movies, and traveling. Their family also includes three dogs named Atticus, Eason, and Sway who enjoy spending time at the dog parks and going 4 wheeling.
